Have you ever had that feeling of total panic when two seconds have passed, you turn around and a child or a pet has vanished? Heart racing you back track as quickly as you can, looking in all the possible places either might be. Thankfully what seems like minutes is usually less than one, when they are found or reappear.

I am not sure that this book deserves 5 stars, but it is so full of imaginative applications…counting,colors, maps, "searching for waldo" that make it a delight.
I loved the illustrations (so five stars for that), and maybe 3 plus stars for the story. I only wish that there was a better map that identified the various sites where the story is set.

3.75 Stars I can see this as a mock Caldecott candidate. There is a lot of details to the pictures and I like it enough to almost rate it a 4! The counting part is interesting and I like the fact the the city scape is in black and white and the things we are counting are in color. I liked it worth reading!

I'm not sure how successful this will be as a readaloud, but as a book for a kid to pore over, wow! Love the map of locations on the endpapers.
