I'm not even going to talk about how awful the ending was because enough people have already gone on here and ranted about Tris dying. To be truthful, that wasn't the worst thing about the book for me. Let me tell you what DID drive me insane.

1: Tobias/Four
In the past two books, Four was shown and written to be a strong tough warrior, able to do feats of strength and so forth. In this book, I t I cannot, cannot express how much I HATED this book! I hated it so so so much!!!!!!! With a passion!!!
I'm not even going to talk about how awful the ending was because enough people have already gone on here and ranted about Tris dying. To be truthful, that wasn't the worst thing about the book for me. Let me tell you what DID drive me insane.

1: Tobias/Four
In the past two books, Four was shown and written to be a strong tough warrior, able to do feats of strength and so forth. In this book, I truly believe he was regressed to a whiny 3 year old. When Nita approached him, he didn't really have any reason to go against the "Divergent" or whatever but he had been so upset that his genes were still "Modified" or something that he just happily went ahead with any plans some stranger threw at him. Then, of course when Tris told him he was acting like an idiot, he'd yell at her! In fact, in the story, that was practically all he did when with Tris. They had like four romantic moments, and then they would get in a fight and hate each other. AAAAAKKKKK!!!

2: The whole self sacrifice for Caleb
In Insurgent, Caleb betrayed Tris, extremely so. And yet, when Caleb has a chance to ever so slightly redeem himself, Tris has to swoop in and save him because of some family loyalty she pulled out of her butt. Some people think she was being heroic. I say no, she was just obsessed with the idea of being brave when really she was being a stupid idiot.

3: The Genetic modifying
So, apparently the US Government had never read any books or seen any movies with Genetic modifying. Because if they had, then they would have known it was a STUPID BUTT IDEA. But whatever, lets say those books and movies didn't exist in this distopian world. But are you SERIOUSLY going to tell me that NNNOOOO other country stepped in and said the the US TWEAKING PEOPLE'S GENETICS WAS CRAZY!!!! Asia, Europe, South America, Africa Etc. None of the countries in any of these places told the US it was a bad idea? I just find that to be so ridiculously unbelievable.

4: Tris's death
I know I said I wouldn't talk about the ending, but I have to. If Tris had to die, she should have died with the FLIPPIN DEATH SERUM!! Instead, some dude has to show up and shoot her!! Are they serious? In the first place, how does she survive the death serum? That's never explained. In addition, if she had to survive the serum, couldn't the author have let her live?
