What Members Thought

There are several things going for this novel. First, A return to a much later version of Graff Station and the quaddies. Second, a return to Cetaganda. Third, a return of our favorite hermaphrodite. The only other odd novel out that should have made a return is Ethan of Athos, or at least the first batch of interesting kiddos from that planet. Imperial Auditor Miles and his wife Ekaterin just want to make it home in time to see their babies born (like most civilised people, they're opting for a replicator birth). Um, I don't know what to say, this book is Bujold writing as Bujold, of Miles being Miles, no surprises here... don't get me wrong, I love everything Bojold have to write, I just wanted something new.

It's comfort food, really. There's nothing new in this book that hasn't been in a dozen other Vorskorigan books, but it's still written very well. it reads more like an episode of a TV series than a deep introspective piece of literature, but that's just fine. The character voices are handled well, and they feel fresh and alive.
The plot's a little slow at the beginning but picks up a breakneck speed at the end. ...more

It's a good, very action packed read with uncomplicated heroes and a great story.
