Unfortunately, I didn’t get into this book as much as I had hoped. I’ve enjoyed Mary Kubica’s other books, but this one didn’t have me reaching for it... I read the paperback about halfway and then couldn’t get back into it. I got the digital audio from my library to finish the book. I liked Quinn’s character development, but not so much Alex. So I would race through Quinn’s chapters and then stop at Alex. The ending was good, so maybe I read this book at the wrong time.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. It's good. It's really good. Surprisingly. It's really good. Because it starts so blah that I wonder wtf? It's enthralling but it gets dull quickly too. The author has spent TOOOOO MUCH time describing the color and texture of sand and you start to think if sand is one of the key suspects.
But then it got good right into 3/4 of it. Yeah you have to wait for it. But you kind of start of our put all the clues together.

I picked this one up at Barnes and Noble one day when I was killing time before my night class. I started reading it that day and finished it a couple of days later! I originally bought it because the author of one of my all-time favorite books, Caroline Kepnes, recommended reading Mary Kubica’s work.

Unfortunately, I found this book to be really disappointing. I quite enjoyed Kubica's first two books, so I was very excited to read this one. I found it to be slow and a bit on the boring side.
