I think that this book's biggest mistake is presenting itself as something that it is not.
This book is NOT about a couple of psychopathic magicians who make their apprentices compete against each other in a duel to the death (nor it's the story of star-crossed lovers). Oh, both of those are kind of present, but they're just thin excuses to explain the existence of the real absolute protagonist: the Circus.

An epic tale of friendship, love, and magic set in the astounding background of an enchanting circus. The audiobook was so damn magical courtesy of Jim Dale's amazing voice. I seriously wanted to cry just because it was so fantastic and enchanting.
I think I'll reread this as an actual book since I felt really rushed while listening to the audiobook although it was wonderful to hear Jim's voice! I loved seeing how Celia and Marco were prepared for the competition. Also watching their displ ...more

Lovely. Absolutely lovely.

This book was like nothing I've read before. Actually, I lie. The format of it and the way it's told is like nothing I've read before. It is actually extremely similar to Crown's Game. So many similar points. (view spoiler)
