I listened to this on audio and oh man it was pretty great. Score for hype!! For me, this feels like the more true version of The Little Mermaid. I loved the parallels. And Lira is not as helpless or naive as Ariel. Both the MCs are actually quite ruthless when they need to be.
This was actually pretty fast paced. We get to see each MC by theirselves before they actually meet which I enjoyed since they didn't trust each other in the least bit and we had the story of why. As the reader we were a s ...more

To Kill A Kingdom is a book that has been on my bookcase for such a long time. I remember picking this one up not long after it released and then, story of my life, it just sat there unread for years and years. I had heard so many good things about To Kill a Kingdom, so I was super excited when I picked it up. And then I was super disappointed. It was so blah. I fully expected to finish this in a day or two, but it took me almost a week. What could have been a story full of action, was just talking. So much talking. Still, I can appreciate why some people loved it. There were parts I liked and it is a great new take on the mermaid story. Overall I think it is worth 3 stars. Some parts more, some parts
