What Members Thought

I know a lot of my friends here on Goodreads will kill me when they see this rating, but I just couldn't... I'm sorry!
I didn't really understand this book, like at all? Like I get it, but at the same time I don't get it. Like what even was this about? I felt, ironically, like I was stuck in someone's confusing dream the entire time I was reading this.

But I didn't hate it at all. It was just... confusing...

I first read this at the beginning of the pandemic. This is important to point out because, after the last two years, The Raven Boys hits different.
On the one hand, there's the aspect of the strong friendships, especially between the boys. After two years keeping these friendships alive during a time of uncertainty, and of welcoming in the odd one out, the connections just seem so much more real. Blue has some clairvoyant abilities which she's used most of her life to help her mother and aunts with their psychic readings. These women are constantly giving bad news it seems. She has been told by the psychics that kissing her true love will kill him. Kind of terrifying, I would say. She befriends Gansey who is on a quest to find a long lost dead king, who happens to be buried on a ley line containing magical powers. Sometimes you read a book and just instantly fall in love with it. For me this happened with this book. Every time I read it, it was so easy to get lost in the world of Blue and her Raven Boys.
I swear I loved every character just the same except maybe I loved Noah just a tiny bit more. I just had a really soft spot for him. Which to me means Maggie did amazing at writing characters that were easy to connect with, yes, even the villains.
