The Raven Boys
follows Blue, daughter of a psychic who's been told by every psychic she knows (more than you'd think) that her true love will die after kissing her. Despite coming from a family of psychics, Blue has no psychic powers but she is able to enhance the others' psychic powers. So on St Mark's Day when Blue is sitting in a graveyard with her aunt and she sees the spirit of a boy, she is confused. He tells her his name is Gansey and then disappears. Her aunt tells her the only way s

The book starts off very, very slow. It's obvious that the author wanted to introduce all the characters, but all of the alternating chapters made the book feel disjointed sometimes. Especially whenever the chapters were told from Whelk's POV. But I really enjoyed Maggie Stiefvater's writing style, and I also enjoyed how sassy Blue was! And the raven boys were adorable, complex characters that I loved getting to know throughout the book.

Declan’s wide jaw and smile said, Vote for me while Ronan’s buzzed head and thin mouth warned that this species was poisonous.
Gansey had once told Adam that he was afraid most people didn’t know how to handle Ronan. What he meant by this was that he was worried that one day someone would fall on Ronan and cut themselves.
God, I love this book! I love the characters and more importantly how Stiefvater describes her characters. My favorite (if you couldn't tell) is how she describes Ronan. I love t ...more

It took me a while to get through this but not because it's bad but because English books just take longer for me to finish. I've enjoyed it so much and kind of fell in love with all the boys. It was the perfect mixture between fantasy, romance, comedy and action. I honestly can't wait to read the next books in the series!
UPDATE 30/07/23:
I still like it very much. I might be a little in love with Adam. Such a sweetheart. Can't wait to read the next books - for real this time :D ...more

I'm officially a quitter. I was super interested when I started the book but it being written in third person is I think what kept me from falling into it. Maybe it was just the wrong time to read this but I got about halfway and realized I was making excuses and doing other things than reading it, thus time to move on. Blue was certainly an interesting character and fans of YA Fantasy or even maybe Paranormal will surely love it :)

This is the first in a series regarding a group of boys who go to school together and the daughter of a psychic. They are on the search for a deceased Welsh king who, once found, will grant them any wish.
I really liked the characters in this work. They’re very complex without overdoing it. Blue is lovely and spunky, without being too boy crazy. The boys individually are interesting but I really like the way they play off each other. I also enjoyed that we got to see chapters from different poin ...more
