Okay, I have to say I love the premise of this book. A girl who finds out she has powers to help souls and then goes to a creepy haunted forest is awesome. I also adored the friendship between Sirscha and Saengo, it was sweet and positive. There isn't any romance in this, which was surprising but refreshing, though I have a feeling next book may see a relationship blossom.

It was a bit slow, but I didn't really mind that. The story and setting was being built and the last few chapters made up for it with crazy action and creepiness. I do want more magic next time and more background about the Shamans etc but I definitely had enough to feel excited for the next book to continue the series. I read this as the BOTM for "Challenge Corner" group January 2021 and one of the buddies I read it with mentioned that some LGBTQ+ elements would have made the story more interes

I loved this book so much I loved everything about it I liked that the main relationship was a friendship that was as strong as a sisterly bond. I loved all of the characters especially Sirscha and Saengo I really loved their strong bond so strong that Sirscha would do anything to save her. I loved Sirscha for her tenacious will and strong bond for those she cares about she has spent so long being treated like she was nothing that now she is determined to be something. I loved the plot so much i
