What Members Thought

This was epic! I loved all the detail, the characters, not just the main characters of Jamie and Claire, but all of the supporting cast too. I finally took the plunge with this book and am pleased to have the rest of the series to look forward to. The audio was good too although the cats are getting fed up with me talking to them with an exaggerated Scottish accent and calling them Sassenach…

After reading Outlander all I want it time travel to be real and travel to Scotland. Also, Claire can have Jaime. I just want someone like him. 😋

I'm surprised. Touted as one of the best science fiction and fantasy novels, I expected to love this book. Particularly factoring in the time travel and the setting being in Scotland. I simply didn't finish it, though, because it was a little too much of a romance to me and less about the jarring experience it must be jumping back two centuries in time. Sometimes, there are books that hook you in from the first line, and never let you go. Sometimes, it takes you a chapter or two to get into it. And yeah, I understand that not every single book can start off with an amazing first line or first chapter. But this book, I don’t know if I can forgive. 300 pages it took me to get into this.
