What Members Thought

Rating Clarification: 2.5 stars. It´s OK, I liked it...kind of.
There are many things in this book that make it a good book for YA, so I understand why so many people liked it, especially if they were teenagers. But if you are not a teenager and you have read this genre before Throne of Glass leaves much to be desire. I do however think that it might make a better movie, who knows?

Maybe even 4.5 stars. There are many irritating things about this book and the main character and normally I would be irritated. But this book hit me right at a time when real life isn’t going that well and I had a need for a book like this. In that context I actually really enjoyed it! I liked Calaena and her friends and enjoyed learning about the world the story is set in. It took me several years to finally pick this book up but I’m glad I did. I think I prefer Celaena to Feyra!

July 2025 reread, with another promise that I will continue and finish this series... (Where have I heard that before...?) Warning - this isn't a review, just a mess of thoughts... sorry about that.
Only this time... I think I'm finally getting what all the fuss is about! It's only taken... *checks*... oh my goodness, SIX years since I first read this book - but I finally 'get' Celaena and don't find her intensely irritating! I did like the ending, but I couldn't get over Celaena was supposed to be this famous assassin. She didn't do anything remotely like an assassin for 300 pages. If the word assassin had never been used all the talk about clothes and books and parties would have made sense. As it is, Celaena was more like a college girl than a killer.

4 stars. I didn’t write a review for the first three books in this series for whatever reason so I’ll (try) to keep this short. I didn’t love this as much this time around unfortunately. There was a lot of telling and not showing going on that I didn’t notice the first time. Also, Celaena is really annoying in this one. I re-read The Assassin’s Blade last year and she was way ...more

To zní slibně! A co jsem dostala? Celaena je sice nájemný zabiják, což je nám taky předhazováno při každé příležitosti (v podsta

(view spoiler) I enjoyed this even though it dragged by a good bit.

Coming back to this series feels like home...
Rereading it is such a great experience. Being able to connect stories and characters throughout all 8 books is such a delight and it heals me.
Easily one of my favorite series of all time and it hasn't changed in the past 8 years.
