What Members Thought

Finally read this classic. Glad to be in the know!
I can see why this has stood the test of time. The story is easy to get into and keeps your attention throughout. It seems like any person, young or old, rich or poor, popular or outcast could empathize or sympathize the themes. Finally, the key climax points are done very well and hit you right in the feels!

Five stars for the emotional gut punch of the story. Three stars for the characterization of the boys. So I will average it out at 4 stars. I grew up in this time period but I grew up in a rural area. There were definitely the cool, really well-to-do kids and the not so well to do kids whose parents did not have the elite college and hospital jobs. However, there were never the gang fights and beatings that this book portrayed. It was a much more innocent environment and I am definitely glad tha

This was a great story with mediocre writing. Which is to be expected from such a young girl writing it. It was sad, yet uplifting and I really liked how the story came full circle in the end.
My daughter, Madison, read this for school and I read it along with her.
