Yeah... umm... Pynchon's not for me?
I mean I tried, there was intelligent writing here and some intriguing ideas/situations - thoughts put down on paper to make the grey matter jostle a bit, but it was undermined by the overly dense style and this insistence that everything comes back to being phallic or penis adjacent. I don't know, I could not find a rhythm, perhaps if I had stuck with it and charged through, but I stopped, started again, put it down, read something else, picked it back up - ...more

This one was a doozy, let me tell you. It took me several attempts before I actually got into it... but when I finally did, it was amazing. I started it and put it down on three separate occasions, and it wasn't until the 4th attempt, when I finally dug my heels in and brought no other books besides this one with me on vacation. It was just me and Thomas Pynchon on a 6 hour plane ride, and that book was going to get read if I had to force myself to withstand 12 agonizing hours of straight readin

Dnf @ 60% but I am calling this finished. Trash. I struggled on for the supposed literary value but it’s gotten too nasty for me and that’s really saying something given the last 60%. Be prepared for graphic sexual descriptions if you’re about to read this.
