Perhaps the perfect story for the COVID-19 quarantine! I say this for two reasons.
First: The length
This story can be consumed in one sitting. At a time when I am struggling to focus on reading, getting in and getting out of a story quickly is perfect for my current attention span. Also, I decided to listen to this one. As part of keeping myself healthy during this time of isolation at home, I have been trying to get some fresh air by going for a walk at lunch. Love Poe ♡ The gothic vibes did not disappoint in this creepy tale at the edge of insanity. I've expected nothing less.

Its so interesting to reapproach literature that you read years ago in a fresh eye. I would like to read more and perhaps a biography - though I read the short bio in the collection. I can see why he

While I got creeped out in some places with this little story, it wasn't the Poe I remembered reading years ago. I had a difficult time ciphering through some of the phrasing he used. I am still not quite sure I understand the ending either.
On the flip side of the coin, I did enjoy the way he describes the paranoia that is always coupled with a creepy house. You know those moments when you are watching a scary horror flick late at night, the climax of the movie is about to happen, and some loud ...more
