I try to stay away from overtly political books anymore but I'm glad I finally read this one. Reading this 60 years after the fact, the themes contained certainly don't seem groundbreaking, but it's great because of the context of when it was written combined with the political leanings of the author. The book was aimed squarely at the Soviet communism revolution, but Orwell being a socialist was criticized by many in his own socialist camp at the time because of the systems having some similar

Okay, I'm not entirely sure that I've read this before, but this was really engrossing and the narrator (Ralph Cosham) was perfect for it. I can't do a classic like this justice, but I will say that as I listened, current events kept rearing its ugly head as this story ran to its conclusion. Whew! This may have been written in 1945, but it's still relevant today. I think this is a book that we should revisit from time to time as responsible adults to remind us what happens when we bury our heads

Hard to believe it took me so long to get around to reading Animal Farm! But it was worth the wait and that fateful sentence - about walking on hind legs- you know the one "Four legs good, two legs better!" hit me as it does anyone I've talked to.
