I expected this to be bizarre. I was not disappointed!

In the past I have not had much luck with Cyberpunk. While I did enjoy this one more than my previous experiences, I still don’t think it will be a genre that I will generally go out of my way to read. It is just a little but too out there, to the point of being a chore to push through, from time to time.

This book goes from cinematic action to humor to religious philosophy to computer hacking to mafia violence with great abandon. In discussin

I have very mixed feelings about this book. There was a lot that I loved about this book, but then there were bits that I felt were more than a little discordant.

On the positive side, I loved the action and the humor. As a friend aptly pointed out, "You have to admit Hiro Protagonist is great name for the....umm...protagonist." (Thank you, Hank). 4, maybe 4.5 stars.

Things I liked:
* Very interesting world building with the post-apocalyptic break down of society and the way things are run in both reality and in the metaverse with different groups in charge.
* The weaving together of history, religions, mystical powers, science, and computer programming/language.
* LT and Hiro -- two great protaganists
* Fido the Rat Thing

Things I didn't like:
* I had a hard time getting into it, perhaps in part because I was just not used to the style of the

So I liked this but I also didn't? The sheer craziness of the book was great but I found it hard to keep track of what was going on. That might be due to me taking at least 4 breaks from the book to finish another book that was on a dire hold from Overdrive. Anyways, the detail was amazing, if not confusing as all get out. Further, I like how religion and technology come together in this one. I don't think I will ever see anything like this again.

Winner of best first chapter in my opinion!
