Holy cow! I am done! Not sure what to say . . . I feel like I should write a 1000 page review, but I will keep it short.
I finished the book while a passenger in a mini-van stuck in horrible Atlanta traffic.

I don't think it's ever taken me 5 months to read a book before but this book was worth it. I've never read anything like it and probably never will again. There were so many layers to this book. Reading it felt like flying over a vast landscape and then suddenly zooming in to a personal moment happening below. I was amazed at how Tolstoy could convey both the epic and the intimate with equal skill.

To review this book one needs to address a philosophy, an overarching treatises on history, society and what force/forces lead mankind to do everything that it does. In essence to review this book one has to address the big picture questions and arguments, then break them down to it's most individualistic components, for that is the heart of what this book provides. To do a proper review of this book one needs to take the wisdom garnered from these pages and convey it concisely and then also art
