This is one of the most adorable books I have ever read. Is it profound? Not really. Is it deep? Perhaps in spots. But really, who cares? It's entertaining, it's sweet, it's filled with love, and it features a guy named Simon Spier, who is so endearing but flawed that you can't help but root for him the whole time you're reading this novel.

I am heartened by the number of positive, entertaining, representative teen books about queer kids that are out in the world now. Books that are without shame, and demonstrate what the thoughts and interests and realities of being a queer teen are today, which are very different from when I was a queer teen.

I saw the movie before I read the book. I definitely that this was one of the ya novels dealing with sexuality and coming out.
Simon is a 17 year old in high school who spontaneously decides to post anonymously about being gay. This begins Simons journey of coming out and accepting himself with the help of his anonymous boyfriend Blue. Very well done and sweet with a touch of mystery. The novel does a good job in dealing with shifting relationships which often define high school.
