I figured it was time I finally read this book, since Carson McCullers lived in my town, and all the AP English kids are required to read it here, so why not choose it for a discussion?
I enjoyed this book, but found my mind wandering at times. John Singer, the deaf mute in a small unnamed town in the deep south seems to be the person that every character projects all their desires, fears, hopes and confidences onto. He is quiet, patient, and very lonely.
