When I first picked up this book last year I don't know if I was not in the place to read it or what because this was my post on October 2,2015

I read this for the first time in august 2015..
Coming into this the second time i couldnt remember what had happened and i have know idea how i forgot because it was fantastic.
I adore the world i think its my faviourite thing about this series it seems so unique to me and thwere are always knew things to learn.
The characters are great.
The writing keeps you gripped from the start i loved it all. The pictures was creepy as hell.
I had a couple of issues at times a i thought it was a little bit slow ...more

Dit boek was net zo goed als het eerste boek. Het was soms wat sloom maar dat maakte niks uit want ondanks dat het sloom was gebeurde er wel veel. Er kwamen zowel spannende als enge dingen in dit boek voor. Ik hou van Ransom Riggs zijn schrijfstijl, hij neemt je echt mee in de wereld die hij geschapen heeft. Ik kijk heel erg uit naar het derde en meteen ook het laatste boek!

It does not normally take me almost 10 days to finish a 400 page book. But this one was really slow. Yes at times it was exciting but I just felt like it dragged. The ending made up for a lot. Hope the third book is better. I did enjoy this tho. UPDATE: on reflection, I think the book deserved atleast a 4 stars. It well very well written and a lot of stuff happened. I think I just read it at the wrong time because as I'm thinking about the book now and all the events in it it seems unf ...more

Alright, this book was really cheesy. The beginning was really, really slow, and like I said, cheesy and it continued to be throughout the book. I found some parts okay and for the most part the characters themselves were fine, but nothing amazing. The ending was cool and could have made up for the rest, but it got cheesy again. Overall, this was just eh.
Four stars because the amount of dilemmas the children were in and could easily escape is exaggerated. And too many details that were obviously unnecessary made it somehow hard to flow pages promptly.

I liked this book more than the first one but at times I found it rather slow. The ending was AMAZING...I thought I knew what was going to happen but this plot threw some wicked curve balls! Cannot wait to start Library of Souls. ♥
