Mary Shelley is the mother and father of science fiction.
I once saw a criticism of this book that said it couldn't be science fiction because she hadn't invented any "modern" technology. Whilst this book is set in the future, the end of the 21st century, I would also like to take the time to contextualise the time it was written, 1826. In 1826, a steam locomotive for passengers had only been running for a year and it would be another four years before you could travel from Liverpool to Manchest ...more
