What Members Thought
‘If I’d been the whiting,’ said Alice, whose thoughts were still running on the song, ‘I’d have said to the porpoise, “Keep back, please: we don’t want you with us!”’
‘They were obliged to have him with them,’ the Mock Turtle said: ‘no wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.’
‘Wouldn’t it really?’ said Alice in a tone of great surprise.
‘Of course not,’ said the Mock Turtle: ‘why, if a fish came to me, and told me he was going on a journey, I should say “With what porpoise?’

An amazing story for children of all ages. Fantastical imagination with colorful characters and great poetry gets me every time. I reread this again because I want to read Through the looking glass and wanted to make sure this one was fresh in my mind before I did. For as silly as some say this one is, I just can't get these amazingly developed characters out of my mind. From the Mad Hatter, to the Walrus and all those in between, they are all memorable. This is a book every parent should read w

But sadly, no. Aside from a couple of instances, nearly everything was included in the movie.
The only new part that did stand out to me was the pig-baby and the home of the Cheshire cat. I never would hav ...more

I started this as a kid and DNF'd it. In the last few years I've read several books that made reference to Alice, so when I had a long car trip and this short book was available, I gave it another chance. Nope. Still not for me. I get nothing from this but a childrens nonsense tale, and not a particularly interesting nonsense tale at that. This may be one of the few books that Walt Disney actually improved.
