What Members Thought

One of the most "meh" books I've read.
For a modern classic, it's so dry, and for a mystery, it's so dull. The writing style didn't appeal to me at all, it was overly simplistic. and the mystery was quite obvious by chapter 2. The pacing is extremely off, feelings can't change THAT fast, and here I thought some YA contemporaries had a bad case of insta love, THIS IS WORSE!

I went in completely ignorant, and I recommend the same. Lovely writing, gothic atmosphere, and suspenseful throughout. It’s about suspicion and paranoia; I don’t want to reveal any more. Is Rachel really up to no good or just a victim of sexism? So good. The MC could use a good throttling at times, though.

What the fuck did I just read?
Oh, this book. This book is crazy, intriguing, compelling, disturbing and unaccountable.
I feel like maybe I should just turn right around and read it again because I have NO IDEA WHAT JUST HAPPENED.
Dayum, can Daphne du Maurier tell stories or what.
I think that this was actually better than Rebecca, and it was for sure better than Jamaica Inn.
