This is the sort of book that begs to be read straight-through in one sitting and then re-read multiple times over the course of a lifetime. Lewis' insight is expressed with such vivid originality that I know I'll be returning to this book time and time again.
Anyone who has studied Medieval Literature (as Lewis did) should recognize this book as a modern dream vision. As such, there's plenty of fantastical landscapes and imaginative images mixed with a healthy dose of philosophical and spiritual ...more

As usual, a very thoughtful piece from Lewis. Led to great, great discussion between my dad and me, a richer one than when we read a straight-up nonfiction piece. With that being said, this has the same drawbacks as a parable, or other form of extended analogy. That is, since the characters are necessarily representative of a larger ideology or point, it is difficult to jump into the world of the novel. I am still processing my response. This book analyzes what the afterlife would look like. I do not want to include spoilers, so I will say that they correlate actions and attitudes of human on earth as well as in the story's setting to where they will spend eternity. Visualizing this was quite abstract, but I think this perception was interesting.
