We see the results of family on several generations. There is a fear and tread in the old house, that has a terrible negative effect on some of the family members. A picture of the old family patriarch is hanging in the house, and casts a gloom, and curse over the family. Events finally lead the family occupants into a brighter life, after the death of a greedy family members death, and Clifford is found Innocent of the long ago murder in his family.
