By the time I finally got around to reading this, I had seen, read, and heard so many renditions of it that the plot was not new to me nor the concept of vampires scary. I still loved it. Does Stoker prefer to describe something in 100 words when 25 would have been sufficient? Yes. Does he repeat himself? Yes, quite a bit, although I'm not so sure the repetition would be as exasperating to a Victorian who had never heard of a vampire before.
