Fantastic. I loved the dread and paranoia-laden bulk of the book a bit more than the more procedural ending, but that's only a preference. The whole thing is a taut exploration of intense imposter syndrome and the dangers of prioritizing appearances, reputation, and the status quo over love and truth. For a fairly self-conscious, people pleasing person such as myself, it's absolutely triggering. I'll definitely be reading more of Daphne Du Maurier. ...more

Beautiful, one of those books that I wonder who could continue to write after reading it. I was also sure I've seen the movie, but the story caught me and the writing, so fluid and elegant, dragged me towards an ending that just did not remember. Wonderful.
