This is an example of brilliant writing. While it is technically a children's or young adult book, it is not dumbed down- neither in content nor language- and is enjoyable even for an adult reader. Charming, silly, romantically whimsical, and all of the things I grew up loving in stories. Anne is exactly the heroine every little girl needs: bold, fiery, loyal, feminine, and a dreamer of big and little and silly and deep and absurd things - in all the best ways
