Shelves: favorites

I have spent most of this year trying to wring out every truth, every grain of wisdom, and every word of meaning from this rapturous beauty but I still feel like I’ve barely grasped the superficial. Anna Karenina is a world unto itself. It left me feeling like Tolstoy delivered this gift directly to me so that I may uncover some cosmic secret of human nature.

(That’s probably a terribly cliche exaggeration but, you’ll have to forgive me, I’m still on a high from finishing it an hour ago.)

Well, that was long. A very long story about the idle rich. I understand why the revolution was so successful in Russia; I wanted to kill many of these boring pointless rich folks as well. And the point? The point after 600+ pages is that the only thing t hat gives life purpose and meaning is faith in God. Stop arguing over politics, stop trying to improve society, shut up and have faith. If you don't you will only be actively (or passively) committing suicide. I actually liked Dolly.
