Most of the reviews I've seen have simply been along the lines of "wtf did I just read" and, yeah, that's an element of this story, but more than that, this book is an atmosphere that is strangely familiar. Especially if you've ever been an academic. Especially if you've ever been a lonely outsider. Especially if you've ever wondered over close friendships.

The pretentious approaches to art and critique are full-blown satirical but also so on the nose. I laughed so many times. I also was disorien

Best description of grad school ever.

Love hate with this book. Some of the writing was awesome. The send-up of fine arts/creative writing programs was fun to read. The Bunnies were creepy-weird. But the final premise was so lame. I literally wanted to throw the book, and I didn't even have a physical copy--I was back and forth between the audio and the kindle versions.

Unfortunately, the book went off the rails for me. There's no way to talk about why I was so disappointed without revealing important details, so I'm spoiler tagging

This book is about loneliness, anxiety, loss of control, and the horrors of graduate school. And it’s totally engrossing. I loved it.

Ummmm. What did I just read? I loved the writing and humor, but too dark for me.

Been awhile since I read something and finished and said “wtf did I just read?!” This book was bizarre but in a great way. Descriptions are really clever and interesting, yet almost overdone and “writerly.” Four stars for imagination, crazy storyline and for me still wondering wtf I just read. Lol

Weird in the best way. Experimental. Odd. Smart. Creative. Fairytale meets horror. Loneliness. Outsider. “Heathers” meets its darker older sisters in graduate school. An English major’s strange literary dream.

A book I won’t soon forget.
