This story is about a lot of things, but mostly about idiots. So it needs saying from the outset that it’s always very easy to declare that other people are idiots, but only if you forget how idiotically difficult being human is.

Backman also balances cleverness with deep emotionality. I love Man Called Ove but this was even better. The basic premise is a group of apartment-viewing people, ostensibly being held hostage by a failed bank robber, as their relationships and internal struggles are brought to a boiling point. We also see the situation through the eyes of the police officers, Jim and Jack, who are trying to sort out what exactly happened in the apartment. Wow, boy, this was A Book. Trying to do a LOT and managing in many ways.
Good story. But I don't recommend the audiobook.
