I had a bit of a hard time getting into this book in the beginning. It's written with an older language flair (post WWII) that took a little getting used to, and the entire book is written as correspondence (letters, telegrams, etc) so it's uniqueness took a little time to get comfortable with. Once the characters were all introduced the story took on such a lovely quality! I just loved each of the characters and I loved their interactions with one another. Sometimes you have to leave everything you know behind in the pursuit of dreams others do not understand to find yourself. So it is for the author Juliet, who pursues the personal stories of a group of individuals in Guernsey Island who survived occupation during WWII. Ultimately this is a redemption story about love and friendship.
