I had a bit of a hard time getting into this book in the beginning. It's written with an older language flair (post WWII) that took a little getting used to, and the entire book is written as correspondence (letters, telegrams, etc) so it's uniqueness took a little time to get comfortable with. Once the characters were all introduced the story took on such a lovely quality! I just loved each of the characters and I loved their interactions with one another. So it is for the author Juliet, who pursues the personal stories of a group of individuals in Guernsey Island who survived occupation during WWII. Ultimately this is a redemption story about love and friendship.
