I was really pleased to find time to read this book. The writing is really superb and the story is well told in epistolary format. Like a true book fiction book, key bits of information were not shared until absolutely necessary, which showed some forethought and organization. The large cast of narrators on the unabridged audio version are excellent. The novel is a series of letters between the characters and the different narrators manage to bring the letters to life with widely different English accents and different voices.

This is a charming book with fantastic characters. I love books written in letter form. It talks about WWII atrocities, but focuses on courageous acts of charity and how people found hope and healing afterward.
