This book has been added to my small shelf of all-time favorites. I loved everything about it---the writing, the wonderful characters, the setting in the Hotel Metropol in Moscow and the pace and feel of this book. My book group gave it almost a perfect ten and our discussion was wide-ranging and entertaining. I have since recommended it to both men and women who have felt the same way about it as I did. Highly recommended.

It was interesting to read a book about a man under house arrest during my 8th week of stay at home orders due to COVID-19. With moments of both charm and tedium, this novel is hard to rate. I think it is highly dependent on your preferred writing style whether you will enjoy this. I found myself falling in love with the characters while wading through mountains of extraneous information to get to their stories.
