I feel like I should create a shelf along the lines of: "Books that intimidated me, but were ultimately very accessible, so why did I put off reading them?"
I really, really enjoyed this. Even though it skewed more sci-fi than fantasy, there was a lot that captured me! The incredibly clever POV/timeline structure for one; the terrifyingly believable apocalypse scenario(s); the nuanced and delicate relationships between characters. So I had a hard time getting into this, I think it's because it was an audiobook. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the sequels.
