What Members Thought

I don't know. It could be something about listening to a British actor read aloud. It may be something about Jane Austen. I really enjoyed the hell out of this book. I know it's supposed to be lesser-Jane Austen, and it certainly is not as good as Pride & Prejudice, but it was a lot of fun. I felt like you got a lot more of Jane Austen's voice and personality (and a touch of crankiness I think) in it, which I'm sure makes it less as a work of fiction, but it didn't affect my enjoyment.

While many speak ill of this book, I am reading it because it pertains to my dissertation. Also, it was Austen's first book and she was trying to be Ann Radcliff. She got better, and that's all that matters to me...
