I really really loved this. I only wish there had been more of it - I finished it in about two hours! I had been resisting reading this for some reason I forget, but got a copy for a dollar so couldn't resist. So happy. I mean, Antarctica! The Drake Passage! Leaving LA! The trouble of genius, how different genius can be, smartness and not stupidity, and truly getting lost - but then being found. So much to love. I just upped it to five stars because I enjoyed it so much. There are emails, transc ...more

It took a little while to get into, but then I made some poor life decisions regarding how late to stay up reading because I couldn't put this down. Went all sorts of unexpected places (both literally and metaphorically). Also: funny! I usually have a weird issue with books with too many modern details (brand names, trends & technologies, etc) - it's like I need the book to feel timeless in order to properly feel transported to another world (or to take it seriously). I really enjoyed this book. Semi-epistolary with letters, emails, text messages and other correspondence the books got a lot of quirk. The main character is lovably eccentric and misunderstood, though the insight you get to her makes her seem entirely rational. This was a super quick read as you are compelled to see what kind of crazy is coming next! Definitely recommend!

Funny book! Interesting to do it as an audiobook.

Funny and heart-warming. Started this years ago while on vacation and then got distracted by life. Glad I picked it back up and got to finish it before the movie comes out later this year.
