Please, someone tell me what I just read because I have no clue. Other than listening to some teenager complain about his privileged life and how depressed everything makes him and how much he hates phonies but he's the biggest phony of them all. SIIIIGGGHHH. Even my inner angsty teenager wouldn't put up with this shizz. And I listened to a LOT of The Cure and Depeche Mode. UUUUGGGGHHH. I don't understand the fascination with this book. I used to say this was my favorite book after reading it sometime in high school. Maybe teenaged me got it better than 40-something me, but Holden is a jerk except when it comes to Phoebe (after whom my first car was named!)

I feel that I may need to read this again. I've read it twice: like Janet, the first time I was too young to understand it, but the second time, I just didn't like it.
