I have been a little bit of a Rainbow Rowell fangirl lately, since I tore through Eleanor & Park and became consumed by it.

Fangirl is the story of Cath Avery. Cath is a twin, a college freshman and an internet-famous fanfic author who writes gay slash about a sort of harry potter analogue series. The relationships in her life are difficult and her skills at navigating them are bumbling and awkward at best. This was a fun book to read! I loved it! I read most of it in one or two days ... couldn't put it down. I love college romances, and this story took a couple of different directions than I would have originally planned myself. But it worked!

I enjoyed seeing Cath mature and break out of her shell. She didn't really change, per se ... I think at the end of the book she was still a little shy and introverted, but she still enjoyed reading and writing and beginning to find a voice for herself. And

Well written and laugh out loud funny in parts. I enjoyed it thoroughly and wished I could have read it straight through. There is quite a bit of fanfic in between the chapters but it added to the story.

Another solid novel by Rainbow Rowell.

This is a love story + coming of age story + fan fiction story... all rolled into one. My only experience with fan fiction, prior to this story, was "Fifty Shades of Grey." 🙈 Ha! This book is nothing like that. 😜

I'm still trying to figure out what I think about this book. Rowell's writing style is very real. I like that her characters are actually nice people with depth.

I love this author's writing style. And her books are great. BUT I think she needs to work on her endings some more. They seem to just end suddenly. It feels more like it's the end of a chapter rather than the end of a book. ...more

My favorite Cath moment is when she tells stupid Courtney that the Simon Snow series are BOOKS, not MOVIES. That is so something I would do.
