Ugh. I don't read a lot of thrillers (the only other one I can think of is Girl with the Dragon Tattoo which I liked), but I think I can still safely say that it's not a genre issue, I'm just not a fan of this one. I wanted to like it more. This book is good, but it's no Gone Girl. The Scooby Doo ending where the villain describes at length why s/he did it was a bit contrived. ...more

I enjoyed this book. It did remind me a bit of Gone Girl (unreliable narrators, generally all unlikable characters), but the story was entertaining on its own.

20% in and there's no mystery yet, just a whole lot of really cringey social interactions. I don't think this book is for me, and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who gets stressed out by embarrassing situations in fiction. ...more
