I really really really enjoyed this. Quiet, threaded with loneliness, but beautiful. My favorites were the first (A Temporary Matter) and last (The Third and Final Continent).

Wow! What a powerful and impactful group of short stories. Lahiri writes with a sense of place and longing that jumps off the page. Some of theses stories are so surprising, they nearly take your breath away. So good!

I remembered this one being so sad, especially the story about the couple whose marriage was deteriorating after their child was stillborn.
It was a nice slice of a life and culture different from my own.
