I just reread this as an adult, in anticipation of the movie. What a beautiful reminder of my childhood! I must have read it 20 times as a tween. Judy Blume is just magic.

I somehow never read this book as a kid, even though it is one of the quintessential children's/early YA books in the US. And so as I was yet again feeling very jetlagged at 3:00 am and unable to sleep, I reached for the iPad, which can be considerately read in a dark room where someone else is actually successfully sleeping. I'd downloaded this book several weeks ago in a fit of Judy Blume frenzy, as a part of my constant research into YA novels that could potentially be good reading for our bo ...more

I read this as a teen simply because it was controversial. I really didn't enjoy the story. Couldn't relate. ...more

It was much like I remembered it except for, ironically, I totally didn't remember the religion part. ...more

kind of dated, but an excellent book, an excellent story, and something that i think rings somehow true for every girl that reads it.

How can you not love this!? I just reread this in about an hour. The best part is that I can remember reading it over and over when I was younger, and it probably took me days. Love Judy Blume.

The rating is based on how much the 11 year old me liked this book (as far as I remember).
