I have such mixed emotions about this book. So I guess in that sense the story was a success. I felt a lot of emotions while reading it. I laughed and cried and got frustrated and hopeful and angry and disappointed. I was completely engaged and appreciated having an engaging story to read on a long road trip. Moyes is a good storyteller. And her character development was strong (in the way that I was really taken with some characters and quite despised others.) Just a little personal observation

Judging from the cover art, I thought this was going to be a fluffy romance. While there is some romance, Moyes takes on some heavy topics here.

I won't give spoilers, but I will say this book made me laugh & cry, sometimes at the same time. I wouldn't say that I liked the ending but I would say that it felt true.

This was a page turner (read in 24 hours) and a tearjerker. I loved the characters. But, I regret reading it. I rarely finish a whole book and wish I had never read it. I would NOT recommend people in chronic pain, living with chronic illness, disabled, etc. read this book.
