What Members Thought
Update: Reread again in January 2023 with my high schoolers, and I enjoyed it much more the second time through…so bumping it up a star. I forgot how much death is in this book, but I sympathized with the monster this time around and kind of thought Victor was an idiot. Mostly, I appreciated the craft of writing that young Mary Shelley mastered in this book.

2.5 stars. Meh. The more of these classics that I read, the more I come to terms with the fact that I just do NOT enjoy them. This story was no different. I didn't care about any of the characters and I found the story itself to be rather boring.

again, this isnt a book i just randomly picked up and decided to read; i had to read it for a pop lit class, and again i was very impressed. it was hard to get through at times, but that doesnt take away from an obviously talented writer such as mary shelly.
