Well that was simply absorbing, riveting, gripping....how many other words can I think of to express how much I could not put this book down. It was the best YA book I have read in a long while. The excitement and suspense gathered as the characters became more believable. Yes, that even includes one character who is a ghost. The story is creepy, the supernatural elements in a strange way believable. I can't wait to read the next book!

This was a riveting read. Stiefvater's books are full of creepy atmosphere, mythology and magic. The Raven Boys has great characters, lots of action, and exciting possibilities for the next book in the series. The Raven Boys are 4 private school boys who are looking for the ley line or the corpse road, in the belief that an ancient Welsh king is buried there. They attend school in Henrietta, VA, which is on the corpse road and spend their free time looking for clues. When they meet Blue, daughte ...more

This was brain junk food...definitely not nutritious but fun. There is some language. It is a good setup to a trilogy about searching for a legend, along with other themes. I like how it is third person..finally! Definitely a YA book but a fun, quick read, too.

I really liked the heroine, Blue. She's a wonderful character who managed to have personality and interesting thoughts. I also generally enjoyed the other characters and came to care about them during the story.

Unfortunately, the magic here was a little to heavy for the book. The sleeping Welsh King/ley line/talking trees just overwhelmed the story for me. I didn't have patience for the way the magic developed, nor was I that taken with the ending. I don't think I'll be continuing with this seri

Loved it! Lots of magic, death, folklore, but not not a sappy teen romance, and no vampires in sight.

It's not that the story is fantastic-it's okay, but I love Stiefvater's writing style. She draws me in and I can't help but love all of her characters. Pete got me hooked on this series and the audiobook reader is fantastic.

2nd reading-I LOVED reading it this time because I wasn’t trying to piece the mystery together, so I could enjoy all the little details. I love the writing, the audio reader, the characters and the dialogue. So good.

Meh. the writing seemed like the author was doling out loaves instead of bread crumbs. I wasn't much interested in loner girl meets rich boy and the angst of teen love. Might have had more teeth if the protagonists were in their 20s? ...more
