This book was made up of every single YA dystopian pet peeve I have. If I wasn't reading this for my bookclub I never would have made it through it.

The idea of a perfect society might at first seem like a good idea.Crime is almost nonexistant, you marry someone who is perfect for you, diseases like cancer have been erraticated, you live your life and die with dignity. The utopian society that is first presented in this; the first book in a trilogy; makes me think Be careful what you wish for. This seems to be a common theme in YA (think something similar to The Giver by Lois Lowry.)Without giving anything away one or more characters will de

I listened to this book almost entirely on audiobook, which is kind of nice, because the computer dialogue and announcements were specially recorded to sound like that. Nice touch.

Definitely enjoyable. Definitel

However, don't get too excited -- this wasn't *nearly* as compelling as The Hunger Games. Not to mention it seemed a bit unoriginal: all its societal similarities to the Giver (a book very much worth reading, by the way), plus the obligatory love triangle (though since there's a love triangle in every book like this these days, so can I really hold that against Matched??) Still, thi

This is another novel about an alternate society in the future. This one is much like the Giver, but it is pretty forgettable. There wasn't much conviction in the writing--just kind of blah.

This was a creative book, but the characters didn't pull me in as much as other books like this-such as Uglies by Scott Westerfield and Hunger Games. I will keep reading the series to find out what happens though.
