A good, heartwarming story with a great message. Here is a children's novel that I can actually see children reading -- which is a good thing -- except that, based on the buzz I'd heard about it, I was expecting near-Newbery material along the same lines as The Wednesday Wars or Inside Out & Back Again (so that's why only three stars from me). This is a re-read for me, but this time, I read it out loud to my kids. I loved it so much more the second time and had a hard time getting through it without crying. I have never seen my kids go so crazy over a book before. They begged me to keep reading for hours, and we have had so many good discussions. This book is not just about accepting people with disabilities--it's about how to treat humans. A definite must-read for anyone.

This was a great YA book. My 10 year old read it and recommended that I read it after him. I'm so happy I did! The characters were realistic and the story was heartwarming. I loved seeing the story through so many different perspectives. If you have a child 10-14, they should read this book!

When we were making plans to go see the movie, I decided I should read the book first, and so I borrowed it from my daughter. I'm glad I did. It's an inspiring story and does a great job of showing the perspective of not only Auggie but the other characters as well.
