Exactly the type of book I would generally hate, cold, dark, and dreary. But, for some reason I was really impressed, and enjoyed it, even the darkest parts. So many hateful characters, and yet I constantly found myself finding goodness in them.

Otherwise known as "Dysfunctional" Heights. This story is filled with misanthropy, misogyny, chauvinism, hypochondria, verbal and physical abuse, battered-woman syndrome, etc. The characters would fill a month's worth of Oprah and Dr. Phil episodes. What was wrong with the Bronte sisters?
