This book came really highly recommended to me, or else I probably wouldn't have picked it up--I'm not a big fan of, like, space stuff in general, but this was really fun and not too space-y for me. I enjoyed the leisurely, episodic pace, and the worldbuilding and characters are DELIGHTFUL <3 ...more

I'm so glad Matt suggested I read this book. Super engrossing, super endearing, surprisingly thoughtful, loved that humans are only a peripheral force and not one of the "big three" species, and I love that it makes the human characters in this book more humble and less blustery. I wish we could attain that in real life. If you want a thoughtful take on sci-fi with great character and relationship development, this is the book/series for you. ...more

A real escape. Cute story set in space with a wide variety of likable characters.

Read for the PopSugar 2019 Reading Challenge prompt #20 "A book set in space" and the Around the Year in 52 Books Challenge prompt #13, "A book that is included on a New York Public Library Staff Picks list" (Spring 2019 Picks for Adults).

I had fun hanging with this crew. People I would love to work with, and would drive me crazy at the same time. Couldn't help comparisons to Firefly. The same humor and joviality made that show great, had similar success in this story. ...more

This was a lot of fun. Extra points for a hopeful vision of the far off future, always.
