I am ashamed that I am this old and have never read Pippi Longstocking until now. Pippi is the ultimate free spirit and trumps any girl protagonist of today with her “do what feels good” mentality. Whenever I read a book that is a translation of an original work, I feel like I may be missing something from other versions, but I compared this 2007 translation to an older version, and most of it is the same. This has been by far Eleanor's favorite book to have read aloud to her. She LOVED it. Yay for strong girl characters! And of course this Lauren Child illustrated version is so wonderful to look at.
